The Glenbard West Hitters dropped a hard-fought 24-14 conference matchup on the road against Downers Grove North. The Hitters burst out to an early 14-3 lead in the first half thanks to explosive scoring plays, including a 79-yard kickoff return by Keyante Johnson and a 76-yard touchdown keeper by AJ Rayford. Downers Grove North rallied after halftime, however, using a pair of touchdown passes and a late rushing score to pull ahead. Despite second-half interceptions from Finn Sheeley and Grady Brennan, the Hitter offense stalled out against penalties and late fourth-down stops. Sitting at 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the West Suburban Silver, the team now turns its focus toward preparing for an undefeated Lyons Township squad.
